Candice Small is a Ph.D. student in the College of Education at the University of Washington. She obtained her Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S) from the University of Washington and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Prior to joining UW START, Candice worked as a research assistant at the Social Development Research Group at the University of Washington. Her current research is focused on equity based family-school-community relationships that aim to build positive academic outcomes for all students. Additionally, Candice is interested in working towards the implementation of innovative, culturally responsive, and sustainable school-based interventions that address academic and disciplinary disparities. She is particularly interested in examining these educational outcomes through a participatory action research framework. Candice is currently a fellow in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) program for the 2015-2016 year.
