START Research Assistants Present at the World Health Innovation Forum and Global MedTech Expo at AMTZ in India

In December 2024, Strategic Analysis, Research & Training (START) Center research assistants (RAs) Maya Lubeck-Schricker and Akash Malhotra were invited to present on the START model and program implementation in limited resource settings at a convening for global health innovation at the World Health Innovation Forum (WHIF) and Global MedTech Expo, held at the Andhra Pradesh Medical Technology Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam, India. A key part of the START Center’s vision is to support the development of the next generation of public health leaders. START’s leadership believes this includes sharing the START model to be replicated globally to develop leaders in their home countries as well as at the University of Washington.

Because of a growing partnership between AMTZ and the START Center, START was asked to present their model at the December WHIF and Global MedTech Expo.

Maya gave a brief presentation titled, Bridging Gaps in Program Implementation, where she described how identifying lessons learned across sectors can uncover strategies for enhancing existing programs to achieve equitable and sustainable impact. She also moderated and participated in a panel focused on actionable frameworks and success stories where multi-sectoral innovations have effectively addressed health inequities with the goal of emphasizing the importance of multi-sectoral approaches in driving global health advancements.

Akash presented on how the START Center blends the depth of academic research with the agility of consulting to create scalable, impactful solutions in low-resource settings, all while training the next generation of public health leaders, with a talk titled, Leveraging the Rigor of Academia and the Agility of Consulting for Public Health Impact: The START Model. He also moderated and participated in a panel focused on innovative solutions for low-resource settings.
