START Conducts Meta-Analysis to Quantify Impact of Rotavirus in Children & Adults
START conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to quantify the prevalence of rotavirus among people five years and older with diarrhea.
The START Center Global Program was launched in 2011 with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Initially, the Program was designed to support research and analysis for program teams at the Gates Foundation. Since that time, The START Center Global Program has expanded and now provides high-quality research and analytic support for a number of additional clients.

The START team conducted a comprehensive analysis of gaps in the Women’s Health R&D workforce, focusing on sub- Saharan Africa, through a review of published and grey literature. Key findings were presented to the Women’s Health Innovations team, accompanied by a detailed report, summary placemats, and data extraction sheet to highlight barriers and facilitators impacting workforce development.

The START team conducted a systematic analysis of the representation of diagnostics in published scientific literature across 7 priority disease areas—HIV, TB, Malaria, Anemia, HPV, Non-HIV STIs and NTDs, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This analysis aimed to identify gaps in diagnostics research, assess trends, and understand how investments in diagnostics align with global health priorities.
